Grayson Highlands // Pony Camping
A few months ago, some of my best buds from college mentioned they were planning a camping trip to see "the ponies." To us, that translates to this really beautiful hiking/camping spot in Virginia where you can camp with, wait for it, real life ponies. So when they mentioned the chance for a mini-reunion and a weekend playing in the dirt/sun/fresh air, I was so excited. The first time I met a few of these people was on a camping trip seven years ago. It's always really sweet to look back to when we were all freshmen in college and strangers in the woods, to now some of us married, and all of us scattered across different states. There's something to be said about friends you can pick up right where you left off with, ones you don't have to work to be around. We are the definition of a stone cold pack of weirdos, and it was so good for my little heart to spend the weekend with them.
Plus I got to play with some new camera gear, and this edit was a big trial run and learning experience. Nothing brings me greater joy than editing footage of really special people, realizing how good even the little moments are. I've been dabbling in video editing since college, and I have some beginner video projects with these people as the stars. They tolerate my creative endeavors so well and are the best supports.
Editing wise, I still have a lot to learn and room to grow, but before I spend ten more hours editing this, I wanted to share it as is, imperfect and all. I wish I could have kept more of the original audio in, because these people are a freakin' riot. I hope this makes you appreciate your people as much as it does for me. Here's to never being to old for hoodrat adventures, berksquad.
