PLAYLIST NO. 8, FEATURING THE FOLLOWING ARTISTS:
Calum Scott, Tossing Copper, Great Good Fine Ok, Ivan & Aloysha, and others.
I'm not sure whether it was the caffeine or the music, but Great Good Fine Ok's new single "Take It Or Leave It" had me pulling into work this morning tapping on the steering wheel before 9 am. There's just something about music that makes me want to share it wide and far, and this update of tracks are ones worth writing home about. There's also something about music sounding like various seasons in life. I moved into a new home last week, and the drive from my hometown back to Nashville was soundtracked by Ivan & Alyosha. (Yes, that's the name of a band, and not something they sell at Ikea.) They're a little band from Seattle who sing a lot about hope, and getting through the muck of hard days. I included their track " Come Rain, Come Shine" because to me it sounds like an anthem for all of us, like something they should play on loudspeaker over the interstate as folks drive home from long and stressful workdays. And I'm not sure if it's living in Nashville or the group of guys at work subtly sneaking country onto our work playlist, but somehow a country track found it's way on here and I like it. Also, an artist named Anderson East brings your needed dose of soul music with "Only You," that you'll probably start over about 4 times because it's that good.
If you're reading this, keep your head up, friend. Take time to eat your frozen dinner on your front porch and just know that things will get better. And don't ever settle for the lie that you're alone in all of this. In case my word is not enough, here's 15 artists that will hopefully remind you of that. Here's a little group of tunes that I hope you'll love, from my speakers to yours.
