Burn the white flag.

PLAYLIST NO. 9, FEATURING THE FOLLOWING ARTISTS:

Joseph, Macklemore, Tow'rs, The National, The Head and the Heart, Joe Purdy and others.

As I type this, I'm on my third consecutive listen of Macklemore's new track with Ed Sheeran titled, "Growing Up."  With a line like "Put the work in, don't worry about the praise, my love" you know it's going to be a good one. Please just turn this track up extra loud for me, okay?

Here' s a quick overview of my favorites on here. An artist named Bootstraps, who I've featured on this playlist before, covers Springsteen's "Tougher Than The Rest" that will probably cause you to stop what you're doing to listen- it's that beautiful. I included another repeat artist, Joe Purdy, because this artist is one that I listened to significantly in high school. I remember seeing him play in Asheville about five years ago, as he basically silenced the room with his raw vocals and honest lyrics. Joe Purdy reminds me of my twin, and I just needed to include him again. Eric Church is one of the three country artists that I listen to, and there's something about his songwriting that gets me every time. His song "Three Year Old" is one of the gems I feel most people haven't heard, but it's definitely worth listening to. Lastly, I included the JT single "CAN'T STOP THE FEELING" for a couple of reasons. First, it's just so catchy. There's no way you can sit still when this comes on. Secondly, my family has a running joke with this song. My hometown- Greenville, SC- made a parody video, in which our dad makes an appearance on his motorcycle. It's pretty ridiculous on all accounts, but don't just take my word for it.

For those of you that follow this little blog or playlist of mine, thank you. I'm not sure how my hobby for burned CDs turned into this full-fledged recurring playlist ordeal, but I'm so glad you all keep coming back. I really do hope you love these songs as much as I do, and that the updates help you get through the week. Because when we reach adulthood and are still working in July, we need all the help we can get to step away from the popsicles and pool days. Here's 19 artists to accompany you through your workday or on that drive out of town. We're in this together, friends.
