Climbing Mountains, A Mini-Documentary from New Zealand on Creative Pursuits
A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon this guy named Aaron Clarke. He creates music under the artist name of The Mountain Boy. When I hear an artist with a really unique sound, instead of reading their bio, I usually check to see if any videos exist that tell their story or how they found their sound as an artist. After a few clicks, I came across a mini-documentary he’d released. As I watched, it became apparent this was more than a standard artist promo video. I found myself enveloped in the story he was telling on the screen. Directed by Clarke himself, the mini-documentary explains a project where he had a goal of writing one song a week for an entire year. The end result? 52 songs called Project Sinai.
With a cinematic soundtrack and sweeping views of Hamilton, New Zealand, this documentary is a beautiful work of art that’s well deserving of your time.
The Mountain Boy’s “From The Dust” was already a favorite, but after learning it was part of this 52 song project, I appreciated it even more.
After watching this documentary, and then proceeding to listen to The Mountain Boy’s discography from top to bottom, I was inspired to update the boombox playlist. I leave you with volume 26, friends.
