Focus On the Good Things In Your Hands, Fam

For this playlist update, I’m taking a quick moment during this busy holiday season to share some words that I think everyone needs to hear. If you follow me on social you may have seen that I shared her post there, but trust me it’s important enough to read twice. In a recent blog post Hannah Brencher writes about the importance of basically focusing on what you have in your own two hands. It’s nothing new that many of us spend so much time and energy comparing ourselves to others, that we miss out of what’s right in front of us. Especially lately, I’ve realized what a trap this mindset can be. Brencher writes,

“You can’t properly live in the here and now and also question your existence at the same time.”

Those words shook me, let me just tell you. In ten years, I don’t want to look back at my life, messy and all, and feel like I spent most of it chasing other people’s realities. I wanted to learn how to be truly grateful for the people and experiences in my life, even if they don’t look the same as what everyone else has. Friends, I’m learning that when you slow down, unclench your fists, and finally look to see what’s in your own two hands, you’ll begin to notice just how much goodness there is.

Here’s a little glimpse into what March of 2018 looked liked for me. These moments fill my cup, and I encourage you to find similar ways to focus on and cherish the good things in you hands, too.
